Drug Abuse

DRUG ABUSE IN TEENS.

Many young people believe drugs or stimulants will help you clarify your ideas and be more active that beset.

Ten reasons why teens use drugs:

1. Feeling Good

2. To relieve unpleasant feelings such as sadness or anxiety

3. Have more energy and perform better physically and mentally

4. Curiosity

5. Be accepted by their peer group

6. Avoiding problems

7. Remove boredom

8. Seem older

9. Rebel with adults

10. Because others do

The main signs of drug abuse by adolescents may include:

Physical: constant fatigue, complaints about your health, and dull red eyes and a persistent cough.

Emotional: personality change, sudden mood changes, irresponsible behavior, low self-esteem, depression and a general lack of interest.

Family: starting arguments, breaking rules or stop communicating with family.

School: low grades, many absences and discipline problems.

Social problems: new friends who are not interested in normal activities at home and school, problems with the law and the shift to unconventional styles in dress and music.

As a group we conclude that:

  • The drug addiction is a disease that can begin in adolescence.

  • Teens are at higher risk of developing drug addiction compared to the general population.

  • The adolescent brain is still developing, so it is difficult to make decisions that put them safe, and say no when someone offers you drugs. So if you consume can have profound and long-lasting consequences.
